Well we did it! We added 3 more chicks to our flock. This will give us 8 and increase our egg production about 50% by August. We purchased 1 Gold Sexlink (one week old) and 2 Black Australorps (one day old). I’m excited to have baby chicks around again. We have named 2 of them, the Gold Sexlink is Lucy and 1 of the Australorps is named Whitney (in honor of Whitney Houston). I will keep you posted on our exciting adventure with the new babies as they grow!

/ February 19, 2012Austrolorps are VERY popular! They are prolific layers. 250 per year , per hen. Do you mind if I ask where you got yours? everywhere I called said they were sold out. I am looking to get mine in April. But my other chicks will be here the last of march, was hoping to keep them closer in age.
